The show goes on…
Hi all, I have a break from Fery duties for the next few weeks so I can take my show and book around the country. It’s been good fun so far, apart from the woman in Chester who shouted “He’s dead!” When I mentioned Robert Palmer. How thoughtful.
Book seems to be going down very well, and thank you to everyone for your comments.
If you’re coming to a show, I’ll see you there.

I’m glad the tour is going well. I have your book but am not reading it until I’ve seen you live. That’s ‘live’ as in ‘gig’ not ‘live’ as in ‘continue to not be dead’ 🙂

Was looking forward to the Wycombe show. We have tickets for the rearranged date. Do you mention The Smiths? I am reading ‘Morrissey / Marr — The Severed Alliance’ by Johnny Rogan where you get a mention for learning Andy Rourke’s bass parts…

I hear that Bryan Ferry will be on the David Letterman show on the 26th of June. I was wondering will you be playing with him for this event or will it be the house band backing him up?

Thanks for a great show in Liverpool, Guy. Sat up most of the night when I got home and read the book in a mildly drunk stupor. Laugh out loud funny in many parts, so I’ll have to read it again, I think! Loved your Coverdale impression.

Maybe there is a chance for me to come in London soon, as bass player in my brother’s band who is now in promoting his album around 🙂

The Show Goes On.…
Yep. Just joined a new band. Have a show 2nite. Have 30 sum-odd songs to learn.… and yesterday I have the good fortune of cutting my middle fret finger whilst opening a can of food for the dog. It bled quite nicely thank you Iams. God what a klutz!
Still gonna play though. What’s a little blood and pain anyway.

I read the book and must say its really great and of course very funny. and í cant even get all the jokes because my main language is german!! a lot of informations of course for floydfans as well!

Amazon in the US doesn’t seem to have it yet, can you enlighten me (And others) as to where one might obtain a copy stateside? Let your publisher know we want it on our side of the pond as well please!

Well Guy I watched the new Bryan Ferry DVD and it was great seeing you playing on it. I bet you do enjoy working with another great artist like Bryan Ferry. Plus the musicians that are on the dvd playing with Bryan Ferry are really good. I hope that you can
get away from playing music and come to the states to perform your comic shows. But don’t hurry for you are playing with the real Icons of music .

The Kingston book signing was a lovely surprise, we still crack up whenever we hear Money and Us and Them. The show at Chelsea was brilliant we particularly enjoyed the verbal/visual sketch of Earls Court-you did such a good job we could even picture poor Richard Wright on the stage with you . The whole evening was so funny we’re still laughing now and continue to do so whenever we pick up the book. Sorry about the earlier posting. First time ever and my fingers were nervous. Thank you Guy.

Happened upon your book in HMV Oxford last Saturday — I’m about half way through now — really enjoying it. It’s love how you seem to speak about your fellow musicians from a fans point of view! Makes it feel like I’m sitting accross the dinner table from a mate listening to his funny stories.

Just wanted to say how much I am enjoying the book. As a bass player (not a very good one as you will hear if you visit the site of my band) I can relate to a lot of it. You write with a warmth and wit sadly lacking in most music biographies and I’m forever envious that you have met and played with my hero David Bowie.

Cracking great read indeed Guy. Thoroughly enjoyed every page of it as both a Floyd fan and a music fan. I particularly enjoyed your honest approach in basically everything.
Like Nick Mason’s Inside Out, you not only have something worth saying, but you really know how to tell a story as well. I can only hope that you bring your live show to Australia as I can only assume it is also a great performance.
The other thing I thought important is that, despite not being familiar with a few of the people you talk about, you made it interesting to read about, and I wanted to hear the music you were discussing … an important thing when it comes to reading about music.
Lastly, cheers for my particular copy of the book. I was lucky enough to win it through Matt John’s Brain Damage and you were nice enough to give it your personal touch, so cheers indeed for that.

Guy I noticed you were using a electric stand-up bass while performing a song with David Gilmour at the Abby Road Sessions. I was wondering if you have or ever played the old style acoustic stand-up bass while playing with others groups. If so what kind and make is it. I myself have an old spanish style 1951 stand-up bass which I love to play the blues and jazz with while out on the road. Plus I love playing it while recording. For it just gives you that real funky and raw sound that the blues and of course the early jazz sound has and is all about.

It’s very funny. Now that I’m done rereading the first 6 Harry Potter novels and devouring the last, I can get back to it properly. I can tell you now that the book ought to have a drink warning on it… as in ‘don’t drink anything whilst reading it unless you want to snort said drink out your nose when you start laughing at certain bits’. Very unsanitary and you might get the stuff on the book. Thankfully have avoided that thus far, but I haven’t finished it yet.
As a complete aside, might as well ask the obvious question, since I don’t believe it’s been addressed here or on DG’s blog yet… will you be performing with him at the DVD thing on 6 September?
