Just wanted to say thank you for all of your kind and supportive messages.
It’s been a comfort over the last few weeks to know how much Rick was respected, loved and admired.
We will all miss him terribly.
xxGuy

I was a bit of a Floyd late comer, during the 80’s / 90’s I had the blinkers on to say the least. When I connected with Floyd in the 00’s it was Rick I admired the most. The understated beauty in his work is amazing. Listening to Us & Them for the first time, what struck was the chord progression / harmony from the piano.….… Gig in the Sky another. It was clear Rick had very sophisticated taste (the Miles Davis Kind of Blue references were terrific), and hard to believe he was self taught. From what I have read about him and seen of him in interviews he was most definitely the kind of person I would respect and admire as a musician and human being. Very sadly missed.

Hi Guy
All of you are still in my thoughts and prayers. I thought I would share this with you.
When I was ten years old, my big brother introduced to Pink Floyd via his vinyl copy of “Dark Side of the Moon.” That was 1974. I instantly became mesmerized with “The Pink Floyd Sound.” Over the years, Pink Floyd has had numerous lyricsists (David, Richard, Syd, Roger, Polly, et al.).
But to me, Pink Floyd always had one sound. That guitar and the grind of that organ were unmistakable. You could hear it, and you kwew instantly who that band was. I never got to see The Floyd until the DSOT tour (twice) and the DB tour (twice). What a thrill. (The bass was awesome in all four shows that I attended… I hope that makes you smile.)
When I heard that David was going to fly across The Pond to support the release of OAI, and I saw who was going to be supporting him, I called my big brother and asked, “Can I repay a favor? Can I take you on a day-trip to Chicago?” I treated him with tickets, airfare and hotel as a “Thank You.” We attended the first show at The Rosemont Theater.
The two most moving moments of that evening: David with his fake forgetfulness, “Oh, and on the keyboards…. Mr. Reeeshard Wright.” (The “Standing O)… And then to experience “Echoes” live. We both were choking back tears
Just thought I would share some thouhghts.
