Hi all
Well great news eh?
We all went and had a drink with Malcolm the new owner on Tuesday, and he seems a jolly good sort, who has bought the station for all the right reasons.
I’m glad a couple of you noticed my prog musings omission last week, which I will try and do in the next show..It’s not all that though..
Also re the Gilmour Glastonbury story, I was contacted by David’s management a few weeks ago and asked about my availability for that weekend, when as luck would have it, I will actually be performing my standup at…Glastonbury!!
I think the fact that it was such a late request is why it didn’t come off as all the slots had been filled, nothing more sinister…

Very good news Guy!
Your radio show is coming along nicely.
You can give it that proper title now 😉
Glastonbury? New material or more from ‘My Bass’?
What are you doing next Sunday (15th) at 7pm? 😉

Nice question Nate. I did email Guy during his show about whether he would be there, playing or otherewise but he didn’t read it out. Maybe we’ll get an extra surprise?
So the glastonbury rumours weren’t total rubbish then? Which stage are you playing on because i went onto the glastonbury line up website and i couldn’t find you on it.

Excellent news re: Planet Rock. And having a gig at Glastonbury. 🙂

Yay about Planet Rock!! I was getting to the point where I was not too worried about the future, not only gut feeling I had/optimist I tend to be and all, but also that I found it interesting that the PR website remained normal when it had been announced that PR had been sold.
Great show as always yesterday…I have to confess that I ended up recording it, and listened to it last night. I had company over this weekend, and was quite worn out when they left yesterday afternoon…and therefore couldn’t help but get in some much needed nap/meditation time.
Can’t help but note that I really enjoyed the fact that you played Cream’s “White Room” for the first time ever on the show. Not only is that my most favorite song by them (IF I had to choose), but also happens to be the closest thing to the very first complete bassline I’m learning right now. 🙂

Hey Guy.
Since they moved your show to Sunday nights — Sunday afternoons for us Yanks on the East Cost — it’s been waaay easier to catch your show live — instead of under “Listen Again”.
On this side of the Atlantic we’re happy not only to be able to access your show during our off-time, we’re also happy that Planet Rock has a new owner… and a the promise of a “happily ever after”.
Keep up the good work Guy; we’re still waiting for you to come to this side of the Atlantic armed with your book, your bass, and your wit.

Have you seen ‘Band’ the application that is due to be released on the iPhone next month?
See a demo of it at 39:40 into the video of Apple’s WWDC Keynote which you can find here:

Interesting bass line they use… can’t quite place it… You may know it? 😉

i was reading your little bio in Wikipedia and a fact i just read there left me cold. I am from Mexico, 30 years and here we used to have a group of three girls how sang in the mid-80´s called FLANS. The thing is that in wikipedia says that you played on an album with them in 1987 as a Session Bassist. Well, i still cant believe that fact, after playing since 1988 with the biggest Band of All and with the best guitar player since…ever. (that would be Pink Floyd). Have you been in Mexico? well, stupid question hence you were here in the DB tour in 1994. I think you are a hell of a bass player, and you seem to be a nice guy, Guy.
if PF ever reunited again, and you tour with them, ihope you come to mexico a meet you in person. i will send you by mail a scanned image of an ALL AREA ACCESS pass of the DB tour when you came here in 94.
See ya…
