Oh, if only that so-called pond and a thing called a budget was not in my way… *sighs*
But, while I unfortunately may not get to see the show, I have finally ordered the very book it is based upon. It should get here within a couple of weeks, but I cannot wait! Especially since I could use some laughs to help get over this rather persistent flu bug… *sighs again*
Anyways, one of these days, I’ll get to visit London and the UK, one of these days…

Waw! This pic is so beautiful! Is that the last show or is it just the last one in London? If it’s the end I hope there will be a DVD… I don’t have enough money to go in London…
Good luck for the show, Mr Pratt! I’m sure it will be great!
Thomas Robinson - February 22, 2008 9:19 PM
it’s the last one that he’s doing in Britain i think he said. Pity it couldn’t have been a year later (or me a year older) (to the day exactly wierdly enough but nevermind) so that i could have seen it but nevermind.
Having said all that i think that the best place for Guy to do a show would be at Cropredy music festival. It’s not the biggest or most well known festival but it is the best in my opinion, and from some of the people that have been seen there many musicians seem to agree (Robert Plant even played one year and is in the crowd most years!) I know that Guy would go down really well (and it would mean i’d get to see the show!)
Hope everyone has a good weekend, and i hope the radio show runs smoothly.
Cheers

Last London show?!
I hope this doesn’t mean the last show of the ENTIRE tour — Marie and I still need to catch your show together. I’ve seen it in London before but she hasn’t — even though it was one of our main goals during our summer visit to the UK in the summer of ’07… you may recall they merged your two Chelsea Festival shows into one larger one… since we were traveling we hadn’t received proper notice!
In any case, congratulations on the paperback release, that really, really cool poster advertising that last London show (you should have a small contest to give a few of those, signed, away or somethin’), and on your Planet Rock gig. It’s great to listen online from all the way in New Hampshire.
We hope you get the book out here in the US released. I know we keep saying this but we really do look forward to you touring here in Good Ol’ USAND A.
You’re always kind to your fans Guy — we appreciate that.

Last show in London? Will you miss it?
I just wanted to wish you well. I have been watching you grow up it seems like stating with the “Pulse” DVD with the Pink Floyd of course. I am hoping you will release a DVD of your show for us folks in the US. Any ideas on this?
Also, any idea of when the Blog on David’s web site will be up and running. I have always enjoyed the parts you have had on the site. If you talk to Fed and the rest tell them we are all missing them. Thanks Guy. I have ordered your book and can’t wait to get it.
Sincerely, Barb

Dear Guy, our travels prevent us from attending the show so we hope it goes really well. We look forward to seeing you again at a later stage.….please don,t you desert us as well. Echoing Barb we hope Fed will be back soon otherwise we will all be descending here!!!! Have a great time we will be thinking of you and look forward to the DVD. Take care love Heather and Phil

Referring to another great song you’ve played on your radio show, of course.
Oh…there. 😉 This only makes me cannot wait that much more to hear tonight’s show…hopefully will do that either later tonight or sometime tomorrow.
BTW, I finally got the My Bass and Other Animals book a couple of days ago, and started reading it last night. To say I am enjoying it is putting it quite mildly…this is truly some ‘can’t put down’ and ‘laugh your socks off’ stuff. As a matter of fact, only being barely halfway through, I already cannot wait to read more!
Hope your weekend is a good one!

Hope you have a good show at the Pigalley! Thanks for furnishing the prize at David’s Blog. We always love Fed’s contest even if we don’t win. It is just wonderful that the Gilmour blog is back. Fed said you should pick the winner for the best rhyme. Did you? If so, you did pick a good one. Anyway, here’s hoping you enjoy the Pigalley!
Barb - March 1, 2008 5:44 AM
Sorry, I see I did not spell Pigalle correctly! Please pretend you don’t see the y I added to it in my previous post !!! You need a “Fed” on your blog Guy to correct our spelling! Hope you have a good weekend!! BTW, could you tell us if Fed on the Gilmour blog is a Mr. or Mrs.????? We will not let on that you told us, I promise.
a great show last night Guy. Your reaction to Alex’s question about Roger Waters tour was particularly funny. Was it you playing the intro to money during the first song you played or was it on the record? I also liked the story about how you got sacked by Jimmy Nail, i take it there aren’t any plans for a reunion?
Keep up the good work and good luck for Wednesday.
I too enjoyed last night’s show…in addition to the reaction to the Roger Waters question (that was priceless :D), I also really dug the new “Bank of Pratt” feature. Hopefully, that will get more response than the “My Hometown” deal was getting…
*sighs* It’s going to be a sad, SAD day when and if Planet Rock fades away into the cool, dark London night. 🙁 As Thomas somewhat asked earlier, any news at all about the fate of the Planet?
The best of luck and wishes for Wednesday…break a leg!

I actually missed the show this past Friday. Yes, yes, collective gasp and all. But I have a very good excuse: I was indeed not at work or at home as usual on a Friday night, but hanging out with a ton of mates at a sci-fi/comedy music convention in Minneapolis, MN.
And looking quite awesome in a blue and silver Renaissance Faire-style dress and boots that I made myself, with accompanying bodice and a sadly peace-bonded rapier and dagger.
Yes, there are photos. No, you can’t see them. *grin*
Tuning into ‘Listen Again’…

Thanks for this wonderful show
it was a long time since I spent an evening like that.

Hi Guy
Another great show — I brought a couple of musician friends who had a whale of a time. Thanks for indulging my rather nerdy question about Lemon Jelly and signing my book.
I am not holding my breath on this, but I figured I’d ask anyway: Does anyone here happen to have any sort of recording of Guy’s Planet Rock show from last night (March 7th/8th)? Planet Rock does not have an archived copy of the show (and really, any show past March 4th), and needless to say, as someone who was looking forward to hearing the show, I am quite dismayed. Not to mention especially being bummed out at the lack of archived shows being a very possible sign that Planet Rock will indeed be ceasing and desisting at the end of the month. *sighs*
Anyway, if anyone has a sharable copy of this week’s episode of the show, please e‑mail me (caroline@vivadieci.net). Thanks in advance…and I’ll certainly take this as a sign that I better tune in live somehow, someway these next two or three Fridays!
- Caroline
Thomas Robinson - March 8, 2008 3:34 PM
i don’t have a recording of guys show but i could make one if it was repeated. does anyone know if Guy’s show is repeated at all during the week?
Phoenix - March 8, 2008 7:32 PM
Normally, I’d point to the ‘Listen Again’ feature, but this recent episode isn’t listed. Very sad, since I also wanted to have a copy of it… all the World of Warcraft references amused me immensely.
Okay, so I nearly squealed in a customer’s ear at work when I heard the shout-out. 🙂
Thanks!
Nix.
Thomas Robinson - March 8, 2008 7:54 PM
Yeah i liked the world of warcraft references too. I don’t think Guy quite understood your point that there are worse addictions to have. I couldn’t hear all of the show last night which is a shame because it’s a great show and i was hoping my best job email might be read out.
Perhaps guy could put a recording of the show on this website?
I checked the Planet Rock schedule to see if there are any repeats of Guy’s show…and it looks like the only ones PR bothers to play again, not counting artist/band of the month specials, are Listomania, Alice Cooper’s breakfast show (at least in the form of highlights), and Gary Moore’s Blues Power. No signs of Guy’s show repeats…unless they are buried in the 12/1:00AM to 6/7:00AM slots. But, I highly doubt they are.
It would be great if a copy of this week’s episode could be featured on Guy’s site…it would certainly work well as advertising for the show AND Planet Rock, even if I am a little threadbare with the Planet at the moment for this suddenly not archiving their shows. That not being helped by their still having a button on the site stating “Missed your favorite show? Listen again!”…grrr, arrrgh.
- Caroline
Phoenix - March 8, 2008 11:34 PM
Thomas Robinson, my comment was mostly made in light of Guy’s previous comments on-air about how chocolate has become his new addiction since giving up smoking.
Caroline, I listened to last week’s show earlier this week with the Listen Again feature… normally that thing’s full of all kinds of stuff. Why it isn’t now, I dunno. As for archiving elsewhere, I believe the UK has similar ‘podcasting’ or recording rules that US stations have. For example, I can stream various music on my radio show for a certain small amount of royalties that need to be paid. It’s a live stream, no repeats, no archiving. But as soon as we offer either repeats or archiving, it falls under the whole podcasting laws and such and engenders a much larger amount of royalties that need to be paid.
And I have a not so polite opinion about music executives getting money I’d rather actually see going to the artists directly, but I’ll be good and not share. 😉
GREAT news!! Something told me to check Planet Rock’s website and player this morning…and lo and behold: Guy’s show from last week is up!! So my request for a copy of the show has not only been fulfilled, but can also be scratched.
I have to admit that I was hoping that the deal with Planet Rock’s lack of archived shows over the last week was just a technical difficulty of some kind…but with the potential closing down of the station, who knew?l
Anyway, I’m just glad that I can take in one more episode of what has been and is a fantastic show before it possibly ends soon (*sighs*).

Thomas Robinson - March 11, 2008 7:14 PM
thanks for pointing that out, i wouldn’t have seen it outherwise. i’m listening to it now, the main problem is that i always hear the first half but i never can stay awake through the second half (not that i find it boring, it’s just that i’m tired and can’t help falling asleep) so i have to wait an hour before i can hear the ‘new’ bits. Sorry Guy i do try to stay awake but after a week of getting up early for school by Friday i can’t last until 1 in the morning. i don’t have world of warcraft — maybe thats my problem. From now on i’ll just play my football game instead.
How’s everything else going? Hope the last show went well. I’ve just noticed that it’s been over a month since we heard from you, if it wasn’t for your show i might get worried!
Guy, is there any news about planet rock closing down? I’m hoping nothing has been said because a deal is very near completion but somehow i think it’s actually because no-one had brought it. Brain May said he would like to buy it but he hasn’t said any more about it.
How about musicians forming a consortium to buy it, a bit like the football fans did with the football club? Please Guy, any news?
