Hello all
Just thought I’d pop in. Sorry I’ve been so remiss..
Had a mad bout of travel after Australia, including a trip to Switzerland to do 2 shows with Jon Lord and a 100 piece Orchestra. Splendid fun, I love playing with Jon..
Nothing much happening for a while, so just hunkering down at home and trying not to get depressed about the weather..
Although I suppose there’s much to be pleased about with the new shape of the world post-Obama…
pip pip!

Hi,
I can see that you are very busy, do you past a good Christmas Holiday?
I saw the previous post and I would like come to see you at the “20th Theatre” but for my misfortune I can not come in London 🙁
I’m in the same situation about weather in my country… it’s transmit depression.
About the world post-Obama, I don’t know… but we can only wait and see…
Bye Bye
Lorenzo.

however i wont be able to listen to your radio show, how bad is that i am in london and have no way of actally listening the show

Hello, hello Guy!
I hate to say that I too won’t be able to attend ‘Notting Good Taste 2’…not unless I can pull a ‘Marty Hopkirk’ and ‘blink’ my way to London from my abode here in Virginia. 😉 And that said, I obviously would adorn the audience with my presence if I could…but the best I can do for now is wish you nothing but the best for you and the show. 🙂
Speaking of shows, I have to confess that I didn’t listen to all of your Planet Rock show this past Sunday…I ended up recording it, and am hoping to finally listen to it tonight. Been ridiculously busy lately…but I think that will somewhat subside a little now, and will certainly do my best to listen to your show live this upcoming Sunday.
As for the weather…I don’t think it could get any worst than being in the teens-single digits for DAYTIME temperatures like it did here over the last couple of weeks!! *shivers* Usually, I like the colder weather months more than warm, but that very much got me clamouring for Spring to arrive here ASAP.

Hi there, Mr. Pratt!
I am looking for an ambient soundtrack that I heard in a (BBC?) TV-broadcast that was credited to you. I wonder if you have made this track (and similar music) public for listeners? I also would like to know more about its recordings.
I also wonder if there was any recordings left after your father-in-law, mentioned as his third solo album. I hope you doesn’t mind I am asking it in this blog.
Many thanks in advance!
Best regards,
Peter Harold,
Sweden

I’m sad to say that I am not really expecting a response to this, but as they say, if ya don’t ask…
Does anyone here happen to have the first half of today’s episode of Guy’s Planet Rock show recorded? I recorded the show due to my being out and about all afternoon, and either the PR player or Audacity screwed up. Either way, I’ve got only the last 54 minutes of the show… *sighs*
If anyone does have the show, at least the first half, please e‑mail me at mandala4444@gmail.com.
BTW, in what I’ve heard of the those 54 minutes, awesome that you played Little Feat, Guy. 🙂 Actually wild you did that, considering that for some reason a day or two ago, I was thinking it would be cool if you played Lowell George and Co…

Caroline i’m afraid i didn’t record the show but i thought this might help:
http://mediaweb.musicradio.com/player/default.asp?s=47&e=0
It’s the old planet rock web player, and the listen again feature still gets updated but there’s no link to it from planet rock’s website for some reason. Sorry if it’s no better than what you’ve already got.

Hello Guy!
Any news from the Gilmour camp?
2006 is ancient history.
Those barn jam bits sounded quite promising…
Cheers!
Caroline - February 24, 2009 9:06 PM
Thomas!! You’re awesome!! That is GREAT!!!! And not just from the standpoint of situations like mine, but also general listening…I don’t know what Planet Rock thought was wrong with the old player in the first place. To be honest, I have not been enamored with the new player since it has been implemented…it’s a huge pain to record from when I can’t be available to listen. And when I do try to listen live, I am often forced to reset the player (annoyingly Windows Media Player based…there’s a reason I prefer just about any other media player over that stoopid thing) at least once, if not twice during the program. I never, NEVER had any of those problems with the old player.
Anyway, I can’t thank you enough, Thomas…I’m bookmarking that sucker when I get home from work.

Thomas, you’re a lifesaver! I’ve been missing that Listen Again feature something fierce. Wish I’d known about it last month, else I’d’ve kept my otherwise perfect record in catching the show.
Cheers.
Karen - February 25, 2009 6:31 PM
I have to say thank you Thomas as well, as I have ended up missing a few shows.
Thomas Robinson - February 25, 2009 7:11 PM
I’m glad that the link proved to be useful. I would’ve posted it earlier but i only discovered it still worked a few days ago when i was sorting out some old bookmarks that i hadn’t used in a while.
What i don’t understand is why it’s updated but planet rock don’t put a link to it on their website.

Hey Guy,
Wondering if you got a call from Iva to do a gig in a few weeks?
Icehouse are reforming for a Charity gig to raise money for the Bushfire and Flood victims.
Cheers
Guy - February 27, 2009 8:46 PM
James
I haven’t been asked to do the bushfire gig, but then it doesn’t make much sense to fly someone round the world when the idea is to raise money..
Lawrence - February 28, 2009 12:45 PM
Hey Guy
Your may have a good point there Guy it may not make much sense, BUT I do live in hope of the day when Mr Davies needs to top up his retirement fund and reforms Icehouse with your fantastic talent in the Icehouse engine room one more time.
Love them or hate them the 80’s were the decade when the bass crept out of the closet.
I for one would love to hear that haunting bass of The Mountain and those smooth phat bass lines of Stay Close Tonight and Dusty Pages but to name a few one more time LIVE.
And Guy question any plans of coming down to Adelaide again for the next Guitar Festival?
Regards
Lawrence

Hey Guy,
Good to see Planet Rock got their “Listen Again” function working again — it was busted for some time after the website changed. Given the time difference between the US and the UK it’s not always easy for us to catch your show live.
I hope you’re well — I don’t think we’ve seen you post anything on your blog for a while.

Just a note here, but I got a lovely email from Planet Rock saying Guy’s show is moving to Fridays from 8–10 UK time. It didn’t say when the change was taking place (wasn’t tonight), but just an FYI for anyone who isn’t on PR’s mailing list.
Cheers,
Nix.
Karen - April 6, 2009 10:30 AM
Is anybody able to let me know, if Mr Pratt’s show was on at new time last Friday night ?
Thank you.
Phoenix - April 6, 2009 8:11 PM
Yep, it was. It should be on the now-working Listen Again feature.
Karen - April 7, 2009 2:34 AM
Um, alas it is not
Karen - April 8, 2009 11:52 AM
Oh, it is under Friday, at time 27:00, of course !
mrdamo123 - April 8, 2009 2:34 PM
Hi Guy
I have been a big fan of your work since listening to that first Dream Academy album and you inspired me to take up the bass about 15 years ago. When you get a moment, please checkout my skills at http://www.youtube.com/mrdamo123
Luke Willoughby - April 10, 2009 2:10 AM
Hey, Guy this is in no way related to your blog. But, I had a question have you ever met Roger Waters and was it awkward?

Come to Townsville, the weather is grand!!
