Hello all, sorry I haven’t been in for ages, and don’t really have an excuse..
I had an extraordinary experience yesterday, when my friend Tessa Grobel asked me to introduce Jon Snow (Baritone) and Alan Rusbridger (Piano) at the launch of ‘Music for Offices” at Christchurch Spitalfields. It’s an initiative to get people in offices to learn instruments and start choirs or whatever..
For non-Brits I should explain, Jon Snow is the Channel 4 News Anchor, and quite simply one of the finest journalists this country has ever produced, as well as just being a dude. Alan Rusbridger is editor of The Guardian, the left-liberal broadsheet, and my newspaper of choice for 30 years.
I’ve got a couple of sort-of gigs coming up, in Leeds and Manchester at PMT Music shops, which is as a thank you to Mark Gooday and the good people at Ashdown Engineering, whose Amps I couldn’t live without.
Then of course July is my 21 date Australian onslaught…Really looking forwards to that, it’s the first real tour I’ve ever done under my own name..
Hope all good with everyone.
Toodle pip!
xGuy

Excellent news, Guy! And getting folks interested in and playing music is always a worthwhile cause, IMHO.
Hopefully this will snowball into a US tour cos we’d love to see ya too. 🙂
Cheers,
Nix.

Add my vote for you to come visit the US! Reading your book now and would love to hear the stories in person.

Hello Guy,
i just want to say to you THANKS. For all you have don in music. Especially for the time that you played with the band called Tears For Fears , without you certain songs would never ever be the same. Your ”touch” of the string of the bass are great.
thank you from an Italian Fan.

Hi Guy
‘Twas lovely bumping into you in Boots (the store, not the noted footwear) earlier today in Paddington, where you were, bass in hand (no wonder you get so many gigs!) and impersonating Martin Amis. Good man. Being a complete imbecile, I forgot to mention that you should explore christopherrye.com, because you have good ears. That’s all I’m going to say on the matter. Track two should do it.
Keep playing those root notes… it never did Roger any harm. 🙂

I’ll be buying tickets for both nights in Brisbane, just as soon as the venue actually lets me!

Guy, it was great to see you at Leeds. Thanks for a good laugh and some inspiring bass.
Good luck in Australia. My lad is over there so if you should bump into him, tell him to ring his mother.
Cheers

Guy,
Great show in Melbourne Last night. You made me laugh till my face ached.
You have inspired me to try harder at my bass playing — disco is far too cool to miss out on playing (yes, i am option b — my playing is currently rubbish).
Hope you get over your jet lag — you looked absolutely trashed at the end of the night.
Thanks for a great birthday present
Regards
Mick

Guy,
Fantastic show in Dublin on Saturday. Was hanging on your every word. It was obvious that you though that the show was not going down well but as part of the audience, I can say that it was simply that the audience wasn’t sure when to clap as your act consisted of reminiscences rather than jokes, but were enjoying it all nontheless (apart from one chap who looked like his wife dragged him along). Great show & please come back soon.
